Frequent Questions

When did you start taking pictures? Early 1973. First darkroom in 1975. I still have my first SLR camera, a Minolta SRT-101
How long have you been doing art nudes? I shot by first abstract nude in 1982.
Do you do your own printing? Yes, it's currently housed in a large walk-in closet.
Wow, why so much for a simple 8x10, it only costs $x to make? You'd be surprised how many people ask this.

You're not buying the same type of thing as an enlargement of Aunt Ethel. This is Fine Art, and as such, you are buying an art object.

Original paintings and drawings run thousands, so a few hundred bucks for an original photograph art print is cheap.

Can I scan and use a print on my website? No! Copyright infringement is a crime, and I do shut down websites illegally using my images. Simply buying a print does not convey any reproduction rights at all.
Can you briefly explain your printing process?

I used a traditional darkroom. I print on #3 or #2 graded paper using a cold light head. When I print, I'll often print each image full frame, with "sloppy" borders, created by a special negative holder I have for the film. When I do crop an image, I try to preserve the aspect ratio of the film frame.

As with any hand process, the actual item may vary slightly from the scanned image. I try to make sure each image is printed the same as the last image, but it may vary as much as 10% in contrast because this is dependant on the temperatures of the developers I use.

I also use white space around the iamge as well as inside the image. When you receive a print unmounted, plase take care in arranging the photo in the mount and be sure to open the matte enough to show the image's edges.
